Gaia

I'd had a vision of a big Autumnal African flower blanket made with shades of Yarnsmiths Lagoon (available from Wool Warehouse) for a while now but I'd been so busy over the summer months with other things I hadn't had a chance to give it a go.

With school back this month and all the summer social things calming down Autumn is always the time of the year when I feel at my most creative and productive. I definitely do the majority of my yarncrafts during Autumn and Winter!

I spent quite a long time deciding on which colourways I wanted to include in this blanket. Visualisation is a big part of the creative process for me and I often park ideas and come back to them with fresh eyes if things don't sit right straight away.

Even when I had made a decision, received the yarn and had made and joined a few flowers I still wasn't sure and it all went away for a few days before I got it all out again and decided that yes, I liked it!

I chose three colourways, Pileh Lagoon, Autumn Sunset and Nanuya Levu. I'm using King Cole Big Value Tweed in Oatmeal to join, I've had it in my stash since last year waiting for the perfect project and the green and orange flecks in the yarn really work with the flowers.

I've called this blanket Gaia as she is the goddess of the Earth and the harvest and this seems very appropriate given the time of year!

I don't know yet how big I will make it so I don't know how many flowers I will make or how much yarn I will use, the border it will have or the finished size. It could take me weeks, it could take me years!

I'll update the blog when there is more information to share

All my blog content is provided FREE however if you would like to support the time involved in producing the blog and appreciate the information I share you can do so by 'buying my a coffee' via my Kofi page. Alternatively you could share this blog post, one of my social media posts or perhaps one of my You Tube videos……a share is hugely helpful to me!

Thank you and happy crocheting
