Same Colour Combo - Different Ripple

Same Colour Combo - Different Ripple

I love Attic24's neat ripple pattern - It always comes out great and so many colour possibilities! Late last year I was asked to make a ripple matching some colours to the customer's ideas. We agreed on Stylecraft Special DK in Lime, Petrol, Spice, Duck Egg, Plum and Parchment. Not an obvious combination at first but they really seemed to work well together and after I finished it I was asked to make another for someone else I'd given the first one a lime border but could see the border working with several of the other colours so with the...

Autumnal Sunburst Kingsize Blanket

Autumnal Sunburst Kingsize Blanket

Well this has been the biggest blanket I've made to date! Slightly daunting when someone asks you if you would make them a king size blanket but I love a challenge and was made up that I would be using Priscilla Hewitt's fabulous Sunburst Square pattern as it is one of my favourites. I love this square and it's one I've used many many times over the years. It's also a square that is copied a lot too, I think there is some confusion that it is 'public property' perhaps a bit like the traditional granny square, which is why...

Circles In Squares

Circles In Squares

I was beyond excited when a customer asked me to create a blanket featuring circles in squares......no white involved, just bold, bright colours a bit like a Kandinsky work! I knew just the pattern to help me achieve it....The Gumball Blanket by Cypress Textiles although I did make a few minor changes to achieve the look I wanted (I never leave anything alone!). It was going to be a big blanket and I needed a yarn that had some lovely brights and Caron Simply Soft fit the bill.........I used Watermelon, Pistachio, Sunshine, Grape, Persimmon, Robin's Egg and Red. I was...

Daisy Throw

Daisy Throw

Last year I made a beautiful daisy throw in blues and grey and initially my customer wanted the same colour scheme as that one however after seeing the mint green field of daisies blanket I made recently she decided she'd like the same style as the blue one but in more greener shades. For allergy reasons it was really important for me to use 100% acrylic yarn for this one so I was unable to use the same mint green as before due to its wool content. After a little experimenting we settled on the following colours (all Stylecraft Special...

Spring Into Summer Blanket

Spring Into Summer Blanket

I had been desperate to make this blanket pattern shared free by The Felted Button on her website ever since I came across it.  Sadly the yarn wasn't available in the UK at the time I first saw it and I just couldn't settle on a similar yarn that had the same long colour changes to do it justice. Variegated yarn can be a funny animal! It works up so very different when crocheted than when knitted so in order to get it to self stripe in crochet if that's the look you're after then the colour changes need to...
